Inspirational Blogger: Bonnie Forkner

I am very excited to share my third interview in the series ~ the Inspirational Blogger Interview.

Over the few years I have been reading and keeping my own blog there have been certain bloggers who have made a huge impact on me. Over the coming weeks I would like to share with you some of these inspirational people. This weeks interview is with Bonnie of Going Home to Roost.

Hi, thank you for agreeing to take part in my Inspirational Blogger interview! First of all, can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started on your creative journey?

Sure! I’ve always been a creative soul, as I grew up learning how to sew from my mom and drawing in my sketch book. It wasn’t until after college however that I really realized I wanted it to be my entire life. I worked for my mom at her quilt shop for a few years and started an etsy shop. Then another. Then I was able to make it my full time biz and haven’t looked back since. I’ve got larger aspirations for the future, but for now I couldn’t be more excited!

How did you first find out about blogging and what made you decide to have a go?

I first found out blogging when I was in college and quickly new I wanted to take part! I did so many projects and made so many yummy recipes, I was always sad I couldn’t keep a log of them. Voila- Going Home to Roost was born!

Has blogging had a positive affect on your creative success and the way you run your business?

Absolutley. for me, I’m pretty sure I couldn’t have one without the other.

How has your blog developed since you began?

Oh man, the style of it sure has changed! My original design was a little hokey, but the latest renovation by the darling tree has allowed me to grow tremendously. It’s also changed in that I now post more often, write in greater detail and support more businesses and advertisers than ever.

What has been the best thing to come out of having your blog?

Without question, it’s been getting to know my readers on a personal level and creating a community around simpler living.

Can you leave us with one piece of advice for anybody who is just starting out in the blogging world or who would like to improve their blog?

Be authentic. Write in your own voice and always be honest. Your unique voice will pave the way for you and your future!
