Paris Part 1

I’m back from Paris with lots of photos to share with you – so many in fact that I’ve decided I’m going to show you them over a number of posts (it’s lethal letting me loose with an iphone camera 24/7!)

The flight to Paris was very smooth and I was lucky enough to get a widow seat. I don’t like flying but a very early flight meant it got it out of the way pretty quickly

After a smooth flight and a not-so-smooth shuttle taxi to the hotel (the driver thought he was a F1 driver) we were glad to arrive safely at our hotel in good time. Our hotel was beautiful and conveniently located close to the Musee du Louvre, the Palais Royal and its gardens.

Once we had left our luggage safely in our room we decided to take the metro to the Arc de Triomphe before heading to Montmartre, a part of Paris I love.  The weather was a warm 18c and I think I stopped at every beautiful building to get a photo for my photo album.

The Arc de Triomphe was as huge as I remembered it but I’d frogotten how busy the roads in Paris are and chose not to try and get any closer to it!

Arriving at Montmatre, we made the long climb up the many steps to the Sacre Coeur, a stunning Roman Catholic church.

We arrived here early evening, wandered through the artist’s quarters and found a lovely retaurant where I enjoyed french onion soup, it was delicious. I couldn’t resist taking some photos of the ceiling and the reflection in a large mirror, showing the colourful lighting they had:

In my next post I will share with you my first experience of the Louvre, until then have a great week!
