Quiet Lately
The last couple of days have been quite dull. This is simply because I have been unwell and taking the Docs advice and resting. (I have never been good at doing nothing) The one positive to come out of this though, it the opportunity it’s given me to catch up with the blogs I like to read and also to flick through and become inspired by my collection of Artful Blogging magazines. Artful Blogging is a publication by Somerset Studios, showcasing ‘visually inspiring online journals.’ I often find myself behind in the magazines I subscribe to – not getting the time to enjoy sitting down long enough to read them properly. The down time I’ve been forced to have has at least allowed me this opportunity! I think in an ideal world everybody should take the time out to read and look at the things that inspire them – it’s so important for development and for forming new ideas.
If it wasn’t for publications like AB and following the blogs I have, I don’t think I would be where I am today – they have all played a very important part in my creative development and confidence. One day I hope to be featured in one of these places so I too can inspire people to do what they love.

Hello
I saw your blog on the kelly rae course comments and thought I would pop over and say hello to a fellow brit! Your blog is beautifully done and am looking forward to a good browse. Hope you are feeling better. The magazine looks interesting – I hadn’t heard of it. Is it a US publication?
Hi. Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment! I’m not feeling any better unfortunately but I’m trying to distract myself by browsing through all the blog links on Kelly’s e-course comments section! It is lovely to have another Brit on the course – hopefully we can help each other out with resources etc. Artful Blogging is a US publication but after doing a bit of detective work I found an online supplier based in the UK: http://www.rainbowsilks.co.uk/SubCategory.cfm?SubCatId=741
They have most of the back issues – unfortunately I haven’t purchased the last few issues but hope to soon! They average about 144 pages and are completely inspiring. I highly recommend having a look if you can. This is also where I buy my issues of Cloth Paper Scissors, a great mixed media mag I found out about through Kelly’s blog a few years ago.
Hi Kate,
Saw your website from Kelly Rae’s class comments.
Your artwork is Beautiful! I read that you grew up in Derbyshire? Do you still live there? I have a cousin there that I’ve never met. The pictures she sends of her gardens are so amazing. Derbyshire is so lovely, I hope to visit someday. Hope you’ll be feeling better soon.:)
Wishing you well from Oregon,
Jenny
Hi Jenny, thanks for your comment!
I do still live in Derbyshire – I’ve lived here all my life. Lots of my Mother’s family live quite close but my Dad’s family are based in Kent and Scotland. Derbyshire is beautiful and I try to get out into the countryside as much as I can. I don’t have that big a garden at the moment but my parents have a huge one that I loved exploring – that’s where my inspiration is drawn from.
I’m looking forward to starting Kelly’s class and learning from so many like-minded people!
Take care
Kate
